Last Saturday, Frido and I finished shredding the fallen oak tree’s crowns. They were broken down into small enough bits and pieces to be rested directly on the ground as mulch. Thanks to the recommendation from Amanda, I had a hefty hearing protection, so the noise of the machine did not affect me too much, even though I was operating the heavy-weight machine for most of the day. But my body definitely felt it. Toward the fifth hour of working with the shredder, my back started to give in from constantly bending forward with tension in my core as I fed branches to the machine. During the last hour on the shredder, I was on my knees, working through the final bits of the tree debris, trying to finish what I had started.
